WSP is seeking a Senior Designer to support the continued development of our newly launched Aquatic & Wellness design discipline. In this role, you will help shape innovative aquatic and spa environments with a primary focus on pre‑concept, concept, and schematic design.

You will provide creative leadership, guide visual and narrative development, and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams throughout the project lifecycle. While early‑stage design is your core emphasis, you will remain involved as projects evolve to support continuity of design direction, technical integration, and experiential goals. You will also contribute to later stages by developing and refining plans, sections, and critical architectural details within CAD and Revit/BIM environments to ensure the design intent is carried through.

As a senior member of the team, you will lead the development of design concepts, visual narratives, and detailed 3D models, ensuring that design intent is clearly articulated and consistently upheld throughout the project. You will collaborate closely with architecture, engineering, and specialty consultants to maintain design continuity and address technical considerations at every stage of the process. A strong eye for detail, exceptional visual and verbal communication skills, and a commitment to design excellence are essential to succeed in this role.

Responsabilities:

• Lead the design process with a primary focus on pre‑concept, concept, and schematic stages, while supporting later phases to ensure the design direction remains clear and consistent.
• Lead design narratives and articulate design intent across presentations and documentation as the project develops.
• Develop visuals—including mood boards, user journeys, diagrams, and 3D models—that evolve with project needs.
• Lead in preparing complete concept design packages, ensuring alignment with WSP standards.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across all stages to integrate architectural, engineering, and operational considerations.
• Support later phases by developing and refining plans, sections, and key architectural details within CAD, Revit, and BIM workflows.
• Maintain quality assurance by following internal templates, standards, and review processes.
• Ensure timely and consistent delivery of project materials.

Production:

• Lead the development of 2D and 3D models with a focus on concept and schematic stages, while contributing to refinement, coordination, and detailed architectural components—including plans, sections, and key details—as the project advances.
• Develop digital massing models to communicate key design ideas.
• Develop visualisations, diagrams, and models for client presentations and internal reviews, supporting both early‑stage communication and ongoing design development.
• Maintain and enforce organised model structures, layers, and naming conventions to support efficient team collaboration.
• Develop and refine architectural details in CAD, Revit, and BIM platforms to support downstream coordination and ensure continuity between early design intent and more technical documentation.

Documentation & digital delivery:

• Prepare well‑organised drawing packages for concept and schematic stages and contribute to downstream documentation—including plans, sections, and architectural details within CAD/Revit/BIM—to maintain design and technical consistency.
• Lead the assembly of design documentation—including plans, sections, elevations, diagrams, and renders—ensuring graphic quality and design intent are upheld as documentation develops.
• Produce presentation materials—such as mood boards, narratives, and graphical layouts—while providing direction and support to junior team members.
• Manage file structures and digital workflows to ensure smooth coordination across the design team.
• Ensure all documentation adheres to internal digital delivery standards, templates, and naming conventions.
• Develop detailed architectural components—such as technical sections, coordinated plans, and critical detail drawings—within CAD and Revit/BIM platforms to support later‑stage deliverables.

Process development & innovation:

• Lead initiatives to enhance design workflows, digital processes, and documentation standards across the team.
• Develop internal design templates, libraries, and graphic assets to ensure consistent, high‑quality project delivery.
• Drive the exploration of new tools, techniques, and digital methods that advance modelling, visualisation, and overall design output.
• Document and communicate lessons learned and best practices, supporting continuous improvement within the design team.
• Participate actively in innovation sessions, providing strategic input to strengthen design storytelling, user experience, and creative approaches within aquatic projects.

Key competencies:

• Degree in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or a related design discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in either water features or swimming pool design is required, with additional experience in spa or wellness environments considered a strong advantage.
• Strong understanding of design development stages, including pre‑concept, concept, and schematic design.
• Advanced proficiency in 2D/3D design software (e.g., Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper, or similar).
• High proficiency in graphic presentation tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).
• Exceptional visualisation and representation abilities, including diagrams, sketches, and digital modelling.
• Ability to translate conceptual ideas into clear, compelling graphic and spatial outputs.
• Strong eye for detail, colour, materials, and spatial composition.
• Ability to produce high‑quality mood boards, design narratives, and immersive storytelling elements.
• Familiarity with technical integration and an appreciation of how engineering constraints shape design.
• Strong coordination skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams (architecture, engineering, planning, MEP, etc.).
• Confident presenting design ideas to internal teams, clients, and stakeholders, with the ability to articulate design intent clearly and persuasively.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to guide discussions, integrate feedback, and contribute to design decision‑making.
• Curiosity and willingness to explore emerging tools, techniques, and digital methods (e.g., AI‑assisted visualisation).
