About the Role

As a PHP Developer, you’ll be part of a large backend engineering team building and maintaining a modern, scalable web platform used globally. You’ll work across the full software development lifecycle, contributing to both new feature development and ongoing improvements to performance, scalability, and reliability.

The platform is evolving from a monolithic architecture to a microservices-based ecosystem, offering opportunities to work with modern cloud-native technologies and distributed systems.

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services primarily using PHP
• Work across the full software development lifecycle, from design through to deployment and monitoring
• Contribute to the migration from a monolithic architecture to a microservices-based architecture
• Collaborate with web, mobile, QA, infrastructure, and product teams
• Build new features and improve existing services for performance, scalability, and maintainability
• Work with both relational and non-relational databases
• Automate deployments and support CI/CD pipelines
• Participate in code reviews and help uphold high engineering standards

• Core technologies include PHP, alongside Python and Node.js

Required Experience

• 5+ years of experience as a software developer
• 3+ years of experience with PHP
• Experience with Laminas, Zend, or Symfony
• Experience using Docker
• Experience with a cloud platform such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
• Experience writing automated tests and knowledge of TDD
• Strong understanding of OOP, SOLID, and software design principles
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases (e.g. MySQL, Postgres, MongoDB, DynamoDB)
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as CircleCI, Travis, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps
• Experience with static analysis tools such as PHPStan, Psalm, or PHPMD

Nice to Have

• Experience configuring Nginx or Apache
• Experience with AWS services such as ECS, EKS, Lambda, SQS, SNS, or EventBridge
• Experience with additional languages such as Python, Node.js, or TypeScript
• Knowledge of Clean Architecture and Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles
