The Senior Process Engineer is responsible for analyzing, developing, implementing, and continuously improving manufacturing processes to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality production. The role focuses on optimizing process performance, equipment effectiveness, and workflow to support operational stability and continuous improvement objectives.
In addition to core process engineering responsibilities, the Process Engineer is accountable for executing and validating Process Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (PFMEAs) at the point of manufacture (Gemba). This includes leading hands-on, machine-level risk reduction actions to ensure PFMEAs accurately reflect real operating conditions, reduce RPN / Action Priority (AP), improve product and process robustness, and mitigate customer nonconformities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing or related)
- Minimum 8 years of experience in Process or Manufacturing Engineering, preferably in high-volume automotive manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, production equipment, and process fundamentals
- Experience working within a formal Quality Management System (IATF 16949, ISO 14001)
- Proven capability in PFMEA execution and process risk management
- Knowledge and practical application of Lean Manufacturing principles
- Hands-on, Gemba / Go & See mindset with strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to challenge assumptions using data and direct observation
- Effective communication across all shop-floor levels; training and coaching capability
- Familiarity with ERP systems (IFS preferred) - Proficiency in English (Spanish is a plus)
- High level of accountability for process stability and risk reduction
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
- Analyze and develop manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, quality, and safety.
- Design and plan the layout of equipment and workflow.
- Identify and eliminate bottlenecks and waste in production processes.
- Implement continuous improvement methodologies, including Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data to monitor and improve processes.
- Use statistical tools to identify trends and root causes of process issues.
- Lead and manage projects to implement new processes or improve existing ones.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, and maintenance.
- Develop and implement quality control systems to ensure products meet specifications. -
- Conduct audits and inspections to maintain compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Provide training and technical support to production personnel on new processes and equipment.
- Develop and maintain documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and process guidelines.
- Ensure processes comply with safety regulations and environmental standards.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures.
- Conduct research to develop new and improved manufacturing processes.
- Conduct tests and monitor process performance throughout production.
- Troubleshoot problems associated with manufacturing processes.
- Estimate production costs.
