Position Description
The QA Engineer will join the CGI Romania team responsible for the transition and ongoing delivery of several applications. The portfolio contains highly interconnected applications, complex telecom business rules, data exchanges and multiple external partners.
The role is primarily focused on functional, integration, end-to-end and regression testing. Test automation is valuable, but the main requirement is a strong functional tester capable of understanding complex scenarios and validating data across systems.
Your future duties and responsibilities

• Analyze business requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Define the test strategy and test approach for application changes and releases.
• Prepare functional, integration, end-to-end, regression and acceptance test scenarios.
• Maintain test cases, test data, traceability and execution evidence.
• Validate complex telecom business rules and application workflows.
• Test integrations with external applications and coordinate testing activities with partner teams.
• Validate incoming and outgoing data across APIs, messaging systems, files and databases.
• Perform SQL-based data validation and reconciliation.
• Execute manual tests and document results clearly.
• Identify, document, priorities and follow up defects.
• Work closely with Business Analysts and developers to reproduce and analyze issues.
• Verify corrections and perform non-regression testing.
• Participate in release planning and production-readiness reviews.
• Support user acceptance testing and provide evidence for go/no-go decisions.
• Contribute to application knowledge transfer and the creation of reusable test documentation.
• Support testing related to application modernization, technical migration and move-to-cloud initiatives.
• Coordinate test-environment and test-data dependencies.
• Communicate test status, risks and blockers in French to the stakeholders.
• Participate occasionally in evening or weekend production deployments when required.
  

Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role

• At least 4–5 years of experience in software testing or quality assurance.
• Strong experience in manual functional testing.
• Experience with integration, end-to-end and regression testing.
• Ability to derive test scenarios from requirements and business processes.
• Experience testing applications with multiple integrations and external dependencies.
• Good SQL skills for data validation and investigation.
• Experience with defect-management and test-management tools.
• Experience producing clear test evidence and execution reports.
• Understanding of APIs, messaging, files and database-based integrations.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience working in Agile teams.
• French: minimum B2, including participation in meetings and preparation of test documentation.
• English: working proficiency.
  

Strongly preferred

• Experience in telecommunications, OSS, network-management or inventory applications.
• Knowledge of telecom network equipment and network/service concepts.
• Experience with Xray or an equivalent test-management solution.
• API testing experience using tools such as Postman, SoapUI or equivalent.
• Experience validating Kafka or RabbitMQ message flows.
• Familiarity with REST, SOAP, CFT/GYFT or similar file-transfer solutions.
• Experience testing Java and web applications.
• Experience with data reconciliation between several applications.
• Exposure to CI/CD environments such as GitLab CI.
• Basic understanding of logs, Linux environments and application monitoring.
• Experience with application migration or cloud-transformation testing.
• Test-automation experience is beneficial, but strong functional and integration-testing skills are more important for this position.
