As a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) at HCLTech, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and reliability of mission‑critical applications. You will collaborate closely with development, product, and quality assurance teams to design and implement robust automation frameworks, drive shift‑left testing strategies, and champion best practices in software quality. Your work will directly contribute to delivering innovative, high‑quality software solutions that enhance customer outcomes and operational efficiency.

Your Role & Responsibilities

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automation frameworks for functional, regression, and integration testing using Java and/or Python.
• Implement shift-left testing methodologies to enable early defect detection and streamline development cycles.
• Develop, execute, and maintain automated test scripts utilizing Selenium and related automation tools.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including developers, product managers, and QA—to define testing strategies and ensure comprehensive test coverage.
• Analyze and report on test results, identify root causes, and work with development teams to resolve defects promptly.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to CI/CD pipeline optimization and integration.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry quality standards; experience with regulated industries is a plus.
• Document test plans, test cases, and test results to ensure transparency and traceability throughout the SDLC.
• Mentor and guide junior team members in automation best practices and quality engineering processes.

Qualifications & Experience

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in software testing, test automation, or related roles.
• Proficiency in Java or Python programming languages.
• Hands-on experience with automation frameworks and tools such as Selenium, TestNG, or equivalent.
• Practical experience implementing shift-left testing strategies.
• Experience in the MedTech domain is a strong plus but not mandatory.
• Solid understanding of SDLC, Agile methodologies, and testing best practices.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
