Software Engineer – Database and Display (SCADA / EMS / DMS)

Location: Bucharest, Romania

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer – Database and Display to design, develop, and maintain real-time databases and operator display systems for SCADA, EMS, and DMS environments. The role focuses on electrical network data modeling, database management, historian integration, and HMI/display development for transmission and distribution systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain databases and electrical data models for real-time SCADA / EMS / DMS applications
• Create and maintain electrical network models for Transmission and Distribution systems
• Develop, enhance, and maintain operator displays, dashboards, HMI screens, station displays, and SLDs
• Ensure high availability, performance, and data integrity of database systems under real-time operational loads
• Perform database tuning, indexing, query optimization, and performance monitoring
• Integrate real-time data acquisition systems and Historians, including data replication and logging
• Develop and maintain scripts, APIs, and services for data integration, reporting, and system interfacing
• Support display migrations and upgrades for RT control applications
• Troubleshoot and resolve database and display issues with root-cause analysis
• Maintain technical documentation including database schemas, data models, and display specifications
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and operations teams
• Participate in incident management and production support

Mandatory Skills & Experience

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in SCADA / EMS / DMS system development
• At least 2+ years of experience creating Electrical Data Models for Transmission and Distribution networks
• Strong expertise in PL/SQL and Oracle database management
• Proven experience with RDBMS platforms: Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or equivalent
• Experience in operator display development, dashboards, HMIs, and real-time visualization
• Proficiency in SLD creation and station display development
• Software development experience using C, C++, Java, Perl, or equivalent
• Hands-on experience with Historian integration and real-time data handling
• Knowledge of version control systems such as Git or SVN

• Hands-on experience with:
• GE PowerOn Reliance (XA21)
• GE AEMS Platform
• GE eTerra
• PowerOn Advantage
• Experience with equivalent SCADA / DMS / EMS platforms from Siemens, OSI, ABB, Schneider Electric, or similar vendors
