About the Role
We're looking for a hands-on Shop Manager to run the day-to-day operations of our mattress showroom. This is not a purely administrative or supervisory role — you'll be on the floor engaging customers and closing sales yourself, while also managing the team, inventory, call center, and overall store performance. We need someone who leads by example on the sales floor, not just from behind a desk.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Store Operations

• Oversee daily store operations: opening/closing procedures, cash register management, and visual merchandising
• Ensure the shop's visual presentation matches brand standards (styling, window displays)

Sales

• Actively sell in the showroom — engage customers directly and close sales personally, not just supervise the team
• Drive sales targets and monitor store P&L/KPIs, including your own personal sales performance
• Contact new and existing interior designers/architects to build referral relationships and generate customer traffic to the shop

Call Center

• Own the call center function: manage incoming customer calls and inquiries
• Oversee follow-up on customer orders
• Supervise any call center staff, if/when a small team is in place

Inventory & Suppliers

• Manage inventory and stock levels
• Place orders with suppliers
• Implement loss-prevention practices

Team Management

• Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise sales staff
• Set expectations and coach staff toward sales and service targets

Customer Service

• Resolve customer complaints escalated from sales staff or the call center

Reporting

• Report regularly to the owner/management on sales performance, stock levels, staff performance, and call center metrics

The ideal candidate will possess
5+ years of experience in the home & design industry (furniture, mattresses, home decor, interior design, or related showroom retail)
Prior experience in retail sales, ideally in furniture, home goods, mattresses, or a related big-ticket/showroom category
Proven track record of personally hitting or exceeding sales targets — this is a selling role first, management role second
Comfortable managing a small team (sales staff, and potentially call center staff)
Strong organizational skills for inventory, supplier coordination, and scheduling
Confident communicator, able to build relationships with designers/architects for referral business
Basic P&L/KPI literacy — comfortable tracking and reporting numbers
Customer-service oriented, calm under pressure when resolving escalated complaints
